Gray, Dorothy, 1941-2012The collection consists of books written by, objects, graphic material, and clippings connected to Dr. J.W. Grant MacEwan. These include 10 logs whittled by Grant MacEwan, 52 books (most signed; complete works of Grant MacEwan), clippings, 35 plaques, miscellaneous objects including 2 suitcases, 2 cowboy hats, straw hat, fireman's helmet, policeman's hat and billy club, headphones, radio and microphone, and sweatshirts and buttons from Grant MacEwan Day. Graphic material includes posters and photographs. Textual records include a letter to Grant MacEwan regarding the naming the institution after him, the program for the official opening in 1972, the transfer of land document for City Centre Campus, and the records of the Grant MacEwan Day Committee.
MacEwan, Grant, 1902-2000The fonds consists of President's Reception invitations and photographs from Spring and Fall 2010-2015, bi-annual address to community members on topics relating to the university including building for a creative future, involvement on the international stage, and community engaged scholarship, photographs of convocation ceremonies, newspaper clippings about J. Department of AthleticsThe collection consists of institutional artifacts that primarily commemorate events or promote the institution. The materials have been divided into the following series: 1) events, 2) promotional material, 3) flags, 4) plaques. Items include buttons, pins, institutional seals, a signed Griffins jersey presented to Bill Comrie in recognition of his donation to University Athletics, a miniature shovel from SAMU groundbreaking ceremony, flags, a plaque commemorating the official opening of the City Centre Campus from Mayor Jan Reimer as well as 5 plaques from Jasper Place, horse gear from the Equine Program, and convocation mortarboard and tassel. Also included are glass bottles and ceramic CN mug which were dug up when site remediation was done before breaking ground for Allard Hall in 2014.
